Suprising Trends for Autumn 2015

Suprising Trends for Autumn 2015

This week in the 'Autumn Trends' series of posts we are looking at materials for your home. Using different materials in your home allows you to add texture as well as colour, which is such an important part of designing a room.  We are going to take a look at three materials here that are on trend and add texture and warmth to a room.

Metal

Metals are making a big comeback in the home this season and not just in silver...copper, brass, gold, iron they are all back.  You don't even have to choose one, mix and match your metals to stay up to date.  We like to do this through accessories...

All of these are coming to the Hampton Living online shop very soon. Check back soon, or add your email to the bottom of our homepage and we will keep you up to date.

Wood

Wood never really goes out of fashion, the colour and texture that is stylish may change over time, but wood is a classic.  Woods in antiques used to be rich darker woods with a reddish tinge, like a mahogany.  Woods these days are stained to all sorts of colours, but the most popular tend to be whitewashed or driftwood, black or wenge, or greyed oaks.  For a modern look in your home choose one of these.  These all work perfectly with the Hampton Living look, and can be added into any room.

The most obvious way to add wood is with flooring, but don't restrict yourself.  We have some beautiful pieces of painted wooden furniture that fit this theme perfectly and can quickly and easily introduce the look to your home.  If you want to introduce a darker wood, but in a more subtle way than using it all over your floor, try our chairs with black wooden legs to add just a touch of drama.

Linen

If you are familiar with our brand and website you will know that we love linen here at Hampton Living.  It is a beautifully soft natural fabric that falls with an elegance that only linen can provide. The new style of linen though is not made to be ironed to within an inch of it's life.  Many linens are now designed so that no more ironing is required than any other fabric, in some cases even less is needed.  Linen is also great to wash and not as delicate as many people think.  All our linen items are fully washable.  Just hang them on the line for a soft air dried finish.

Linen is a great addition to your table...

A finer linen is more formal and elegant, a thicker rougher texture is great for everyday use.  Shop our table linens here.

Linen is also perfect for your cushions and throws.  Our cushions and throws are expertly sourced and handmade with beautiful Belgian linen.

Linen is also great for towels as it is super absorbent.  Our belgian guest towels are a real luxury for your home and guests. In the new black and mink colourway they are a great way to add some drama to your room.  Perfect for use in a bathroom or kitchen.
